Welcome
Welcome to Bitterne Church of England Primary School.
Welcome to Bitterne Church of England Primary School, a warm, inclusive two-form entry primary school for children from Year R to Year 6, situated in the heart of Bitterne village in Southampton. We are proud to serve our local community and to welcome families from across the city and beyond.
At Bitterne, we believe that every child matters. We are a community school with a strong Christian foundation, guided by our core values of Hope, Courage and Creativity. These values shape the way we care for our children, support their learning and work together as a school community. Our aim is simple: to give every child the very best start in life in a kind, respectful and nurturing environment.
Our school motto captures what we stand for:
Every child, their Own Path… Be Ambitious, Be Kind, Be You.
We make learning fun, engaging and meaningful, starting from day one in Year R, where children build strong foundations through play, exploration and positive relationships. As children grow, they are encouraged to be curious, confident learners who enjoy coming to school and are proud of their achievements.
Every child at Bitterne is known as an individual. We carefully support and challenge pupils to meet their needs, helping them to develop academically while also nurturing their social and emotional wellbeing. Alongside this strong focus on care and wellbeing, we have high expectations for learning and are ambitious for every child’s success.
We believe that children thrive when schools and families work together, and we place great importance on working in close partnership with parents and carers. We are a highly inclusive school, where everyone is welcome and diversity is celebrated.
Above all, Bitterne is a caring community where children feel safe, valued and encouraged to be ambitious and follow their own path.
We very much look forward to welcoming you and your child into our school community and working in close partnership with you throughout their primary years. If you have not yet visited us, we warmly encourage you to do so and see our school in action. We would be delighted to meet you, answer your questions and share more about life at Bitterne.

- The children's knowledge of subjects since the new curriculum is amazing. The new curriculum captures my child's interests, inspires them to learn more and helps them retain the information. Thank you
